The Way I See

Whether I'm in New York City or traveling, I'm drawn to the same things: trees, flowers, doors, windows, bells and the textures of everyday life. These images reflect what I notice, what I feel and what I want to remember from the places I move through.

Artist’s Statement — Evelyn Aponte

Through my photos I aim to provoke an emotion and present a moment that is typically not noticed, thus drawing people into an experience that provides the opportunity for escaping into a state of bliss. I wish for observers to be able to isolate themselves and explore inner serenity through landscapes and the colors of nature.

My years in the field of psychology has not only provided a foundation for memories, but most importantly a time for reflection; and therefore I can say: “I have done my job as an artist if my photos bring happiness and warmth to one’s home”.

Capturing the beauty of nature has been found not only as therapeutic, but just as importantly, a time for appreciating the minute details which often go unnoticed. Since my retirement I have been able to focus seriously on techniques and visual aspects of photography. I produce fine art photography including nature, flowers and animals, with a particular interest in macro and abstract photography.

Places & Perspectives

A collection of scenes shaped by the spaces we move through. Each photo holds a small shift in feeling—the kind that comes from noticing light, texture, and the quiet details that give a place its character.
